Comic books, an artform started right here in America, used to feature comedic content and funny plotlines which got them the nickname of 'funny' books and 'comic' books. Comics have long since grown and matured to become something far more powerful and thought provoking. Kids of all ages WILL read them, and their graphic novel form allows for more adult material as well as innovatve ways to tell stories, not at all limited to the panel by panel format. Of course when we began to design our line we were pretty standard, making our books 'the old fashoned way.' After a time, our question became: 'can the comic book itself be done differently in and of itself even with the limitations of the format? That would be a grand affirmative, so because of our dedication to expand the artform we wanted to call them something a bit more accurate and more in line with what our books would truly be. Basically we're drawing stories. Most won't be comedic or funny. They'll be insightful, thought provoking inquiries into the humanity of us all. Now the comic book finally grows up!
(Wasn't it about time?)
